Back in the beginning of March, I was nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by four of my favorite green beauty bloggers :)
So, first I want to thank Shauna from Natural Beauty Junkie, Crystal from Clean Beauty Craze, Jules from The Natural Junkie, and Jana from Small Bits of Loveliness for thinking of me. Each of these ladies are beautiful inside and out, and if you do not already follow them, please pay their blogs a visit!

I know that I am a tad late to the party with this award, but I’m happy I waited a few months to write this one up. As some of you may already know, I have been dealing with a lot of exhaustion, illness, and injury over the past few weeks. All of this culminated last week with a visit to my ENT and Allergy office on Monday, a rush to urgent care for chest pain on Wednesday, followed by a new Allergy and Asthma doc on Friday.
Needless to say, it has been hard for me to sit at a computer and focus on anything. On the bright side, I hope to have some answers soon and eventually be able to add a series to the blog that touches upon my experience with, and opinion on, both conventional and alternative medicine.
In the meantime, I am happy to have the chance to share some fun facts about myself! Enjoy this unusually short Eco Eccentric post :)
The rules for this award are:
- Thank the person who nominated you and add a link to his or her blog.
- Display the award on your post.
- List the award rules so your nominees will know what to do.
- State 7 things about yourself.
- Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award.
- Contact your nominees to tell them they’ve been nominated and provide a link to your post.
- Proudly display the award logo (or buttons) on your blog, whether on your side bar, ABOUT page, or a special page for awards.
7 things about me (in no particular order):
Fun Fact #1: I LOVE classic cars and absolutely want to get a ’57 Chevy Bel Air one day. However, it must be Tropical Turquoise!
Fun Fact #2: One of my biggest food weaknesses is Macaroni and Cheese and I tend to crave it when I am stressed. I must have been eating it way too often at work because my coworkers bought me a Mac ‘n’ Cheese cookbook for my birthday. Currently I am trying to eat less dairy, so I’m not sure how I will handle the withdrawal from this particular comfort food.
Fun Fact #3: If I were a rich woman, I would probably have a different pair of glasses for each day of the week. I bought my first “extra” pair a few years ago after I broke my only pair playing football, and now I love searching the Web for all kinds of awesomely funky frames. Right now I’m in the market for cat eye frames, as I miss the ones I used to have. Rhinestones would be an added bonus! My two favorite online shops are Glasses.com and FramesDirect.com.
Fun Fact #4: I am a huge geek. As you may have already figured out, I love all things that are eccentric and offbeat. I can spend hours on Etsy checking out items that fall under the following key words: Alice in Wonderland, Cheshire Cat, Batman, Harley Quinn, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nightmare Before Christmas, Star Wars, Gamer, Science (especially Molecules or Neurons), Boho or Bohemian, Medievel, Art Deco, and Steampunk.
Fun Fact #5: I had a phase not too long ago in which I was addicted to MMORPGs. It always reminds me of the episode of Big Bang Theory where Penny starts playing Age of Conan and you see her with cheetos in her hair. Ok, well I wasn’t THAT bad, but I would come home from work and play Star Wars: The Old Republic for hours and hours. It was nice to escape into a virtual world where I could be anyone I wanted. I’ve also dabbled in WoW, TERA, Neverwinter, The Secret World, Guild Wars 2, and Final Fantasy XIV. I haven’t played much this year, but I miss it! I much prefer computer games to console games, but I enjoy Alice: Madness Returns when I have my boyfriend around to help me defeat the bosses ;)
Fun Fact #6: I met my boyfriend in a local men’s flag football league. I really wanted to play, but couldn’t find any decent co-ed leagues, so I signed up to play with the guys. Yup, I was the only girl. And I was lucky to meet some cool people. My boyfriend wasn’t on my team, but one of his teammates found me on Facebook—and once I overlooked the slightly creeper-ish social media stalking, we all became friends.
For JDF, whose mission is to develop and sustain medical clinics in South Sudan, I created a global identity system and donor brochure. It looks like the logo on the website has changed a bit from my original design, but my tree illustration is still intact :) The logo also appears on the side of a truck that the organization uses as an ambulance—and that truck helps save lives!
For Great Lakes Clean Water, I created the campaign flyer for the “Yellow Jug Old Drugs” program, which was put in place to collect unused/unwanted drugs for safe disposal. As of January 2014, a little more than 45 tons of drug waste has been collected and properly disposed of to keep the Great Lakes’ water clean!
And the nominees are:
I tried to pick bloggers that hadn’t been nominated yet, but I can’t be absolutely positive that there are no dupes. A few of these ladies I have been following for awhile, but many of them are recent finds! If there are one or two in this list that are new to you as well, then I have done my job of introduction :)
